Growing up, my mother always wore an apron when she was working in her kitchen. Even if she was offering help in someone else’s kitchen, she would quickly fasten one out of some type of material she would find around the house. I know this because there were times she did it in my own kitchen! I would ask her why it mattered if she had an apron on and she would respond that it felt like there was something missing. I love this about her and have come to appreciate a nice apron myself because of the memories they evoke.
I have had my mother make me quite a few waist aprons over the years, my favorite being those made out of a classic stripe ticking fabric. I wanted to offer this one as a giveaway to thank you for joining me on this journey. Oh, and I am also adding a copper cookie cutter from my kitchen to the giveaway!

I love aprons and I love ticking. What a wonderful combination.
My Grandmother always wore aprons from the time she was dressed until it was time to go to bed. She lived on a farm and among all the gazillion things she did everyday was raise Chickens from tiny little yellow fluff balls to full sized egg layers.
I would go with her to gather the eggs and she would tie one of her aprons around me twice and we would put the days eggs in the aprons. Unfortunately I didn’t get one of hers after she passed. But I still have that lovely fun memory.
I love aprons and would love to have this sweet ticking one. Thanks for the opportunity.
I love stripes. This apron would be handy for cooking, gardening and crafting. Hoping I’m a winner!!
My mother and grandmother wore aprons all day long! I,too, love an apron and when my daughter was little I made matching aprons for the two of us. . One of them survived and is my four year old grandchild’s favorite. Should I be the lucky winner I shall pass it on to her. Love your post!
I’ve been wanting a beautiful apron for so long but just haven’t found “the one”.
Now I have!! Your gorgeous apron is exactly what I’ve been looking for – fingers crossed!! Monique xx
I just found your blog through Thistlewood Farms. I just love the apron you have on and would love, love to win it. If not I still love your blog and will continue following you! The apron reminds me of one my grandmother wore as I was growing up. She has gone to her resting place now, but would love to have one that everytime I used it , it would remind me of her. Thanks again and I will continue to follow!
I too have fond memories of the women in my childhood wearing homemade aprons, some embellished with beautiful embroidery. I still keep the one my great grandmother (Nona) made specially for me when I was a little girl following her around her kitchen. Thank you for evoking those wonderful memories of a home filled with love and warmth.
Michelle
I love ticking and I love aprons. Putting them together is a win-win!
The apron is cute and farmhousey! I would like to wear it while making apple pie.
I love aprons and wear one almost every day. Your home is beautiful and so inspiring. Just found your blog and so enjoying it. Thanks for opportunity to win a new apron, it’s darling!
Since there is one beautiful ticking apron I know the best gift is the one you want yourself. My daughter is preparing to live in her first home with husband and 4-year-old. I see she has already pinned on Pinterest a decorative hooks board to add on her kitchen wall. This would be the home for her aprons. What a fantastic addition to add!
Just found your blog and am already a fan. Am currently sewing a workshop apron for my husband. Maybe I will have a new apron soon as well!
I love following the updates from House 214 Design. I subscribe to several home décor blogs and this one is my favorite.
Remember all the good surprises that those aprons held in the pockets? Aprons connect our past with future memories! Blue ticking is also timeless. Brings back so many memories. Would love to have an updated apron…
I love old textiles. My Grandmother was very special to me and always wore an apron. She died when I was only 8 and one of my most prized possessions is a little apron she made for me. A sweet, precious lady.
Aprons and tea towels, things that make a kitchen homey! Thanks, Loved the story about your home.
My favorite apron belonged to my husband’s grandmother and I wear it frequently when cooking. I love the vintage feel of your blue ticking apron😍.
I love wearing an apron and even better is baking with my granddaughter while she wears hers. We both have a collection of special ones and I ‘d love to add a ticking one. BTW, I just subscribed to your blog which was reached via Thistlewood farms.
Ticking is one of my favorite things, also the color blue
Blue ticking is my favorite! I would so love to wear this one!
Tell me if I’m wrong but it might be my only little piece that looks like France. Never been there, only in my dreams. It seems all the waiters in Paris wear them classically! Love to own and proudly wear. These days my life revolves around my sanctuary, my garden and happily fullfilling Nanny duties with my grandchildren. Wouldn’t this beautiful apron come in handy?
Thank you for sharing something so special with all of us….
I do not have an instagram but thank you for this amazing give away. I am just finishing up my farmhouse kitchen and this would be a great addition to my decor. I still wear a cute apron when I cook. This one is adorable. Thanks for the chance.
Kris
I just made a comment but after reading about you and your mom and aprons I must tell u that I used to watch my mom hang out clothes daily from her wonderful wicker clothes basket. Shecwould tuck a cookie in that apron pocket and she would have it in her mouth and ate it without touching it as she pinned the wet laundry on the line! I adore aprons and agree that ticking is hard to beat!
We are moving soon and after years of living with a house style that never really spoke to me I am returning to my blue and white farmhouse roots.
BTW – I wear an apron every day.
So pretty. The little traditions become our best memories. Love the apron.
I love anything in ticking stripe! 🙂
I need a new apron!!! All mine are rather skanky and well-used, but perhaps that’s a good thing. I love geometrics and the stripes make me happy.
I never cook without putting on an apron. May favorite one in a red gingam that belonged to my mother. It has “mom” stitched on the bib. When I put it on it’s like her wraping her arms around me. I hope to have a granddaughter someday to pass it down to. Your mom is right about feeling like something is missing without an apron. The blue ticking one is lovely and I would love to add it to my collection. Thanks for the chance.
I always cook with one of my mother’s aprons on for two reasons. One, they were made by her with love and two, I am a slob when I cook! Thank you for the opportunity!
I think wearing a pretty apron is part of the joy of cooking or baking. It just makes me happy.
Thanks for the chance to win the apron 🙂
Where have all the aprons gone!
I don’t remember a time that the women in my life were without an apron, each one having a favourite style.
My grandmother’s favourite was the traditional waist apron and if entertaining was involved she would put on one of her “special aprons” that in hindsight were quite beautiful. My mother preferred the zip up apron with large pockets and was seldom without one, they came in a range of colours and materials.
Myself I prefer the standard over the head tie at the waist model and have on occasion forgot I haven’t donned my apron and will haphazardly wipe my hands on my pants!!
Loving your blog and thanks for the opportunity to win an apron.
Deborah
Wearing an apron in the kitchen is a family tradition. My great grandmother down always wore one. I so need this to pass the tradition along to my about to be married Grandaughter. Thanks for the giveaway and also for stirring up pleasant memories.
There’s something so special about ticking stripes…….love 😍
I love ticking and I love aprons. Win-win!
I would love an apron! After caring for my Mom for many years, my husband and I are looking for a wee house of our own to live in. He is 72 and I’m 65..wow, how did that happen?! Anyway, I want to somehow decorate farmhouse style on our budget, little by little!, and this apron would fit right in. Also, I am a slob in the kitchen while cooking! Thanks for your consideration. I adore your house. I just told my best friend she needs to put beadboard on her kitchen ceiling. I also sent her your blog page.
Love your décor and your story.
Simple, classy apron that will enhance any cook or decor!
when I first married 55 years ago I had several aprons but in just a few years they seemed to go out of style but recently I have been wearing one, especially when I work in the kitchen at church on different occasions. I am a ticking style gal and this one is adorable. Just found your blog by way of Thistlewood this morning.
I love ticking and this would look perfect hanging on a hook in my kitchen (when not in use) that I am presently in the process of a redo/refresh! Love your beautiful home!
I LOvE your farm house style…YoU have a delight blog and I thank you for sharing your inspiration with me !
Jayne (Canada)
Aprons always remind me of my grandmother. I went to her house every day after school and she always wore one. Would be nice to continue the tradition with your family tradition.
I love this apron!! I probably won’t look as good as you do in it.. But I will try!
I grew up with both my Grandmothers wearing an apron as well as my Mother.
I would wear and cherish this apron. Thank you for the chance to win.
Blessings
I love your beautiful blog. I have enjoyed the posts immensely. Aprons evoke special memories for me. Many of my female relatives always wore aprons while they cooked, gardened, and worked around the house. The first thing I learned to sew was an apron. The first year I hosted our family Thanksgiving my sister brought me a red ticking striped apron as a hostess gift. It is still my favorite. I would love to add a blue one to my collection. Thank you for the opportunity to enter.
Ticking stripe was my grandmothers go to fabric. I have always worn aprons too 🙂
I would love to win and use that gorgeous apron. I gifted my to my daughter and have been doing without. Thank you so much for the opportunity to win and wear such a lovely one! xo
I have always worn an apron when I cook. There is something about an apron that just feels right. It comes in handy not only to protect your clothing, but to dry your hands on, wipe away tears, carry veggies from the garden, etc. I am a rather new grandmother, and an apron is just something a grandma should wear! 🙂
I love your blog and am thrilled to be following your posts on enjoying an authentic home.
I have always worn an apron, following my mother’s and grandmother’s example. The ticking stripes are more my style, when mom used to wear pretty ruffled aprons! 🙂
xo,
Karen
What a wonderful giveaway, thank you for the opportunity to win this for my daughter. Who just moved into her own place. We love aprons!
I’m tagging on IG now!
I subscribed!
I usuallywear an apron when I’m in the kitchen. That’s when I feel like m really cooking! It has saved countless shirts/slacks, etc. Love ticking stripe.
I just LOVE your site! Your home is beautiful and I enjoy reading about your endeavors. I bake almost daily, but never remember to put an apron on!!!! Your apron is so beautiful that I could hang it in my kitchen and then remember to wear it!
My mother always wore an apron as well!!! Also at my house. Brings back great memories…Thank you
I am so glad to get a new post from you. My grandmother taught me to bake and cook. I love baking. We just moved to a new home and I’ve been settling in. I would love to have a new apron. My grandmother wore one and I have searched for one that is my taste. Haven’t found one. But, I really like this one. I would love to win one to keep my clothes clean. My husband giggles at me because he will come home and find flour dusting and hand prints all over my clothes. Thanks for doing this contest. Love your posts!
If I’m working in the kitchen, I’ll almost always be wearing an apron. Both of my grandmothers wore aprons, but my mom, not so much. Although my mom sews all of my aprons for me. It would be lovely to have one made of blue ticking.
I can so relate to your mother! It just feels right to have an apron on! And… Once the apron is on…. It just feels right to be in the kitchen!!!😍
I also love to wear an apron in the kitchen and also around the house while I do other kinds of work. It frees me up to work harder if I am not worrying about getting my clothes dirty.
I also wear an apron whenever I’m cooking. It helps to keep splatters off my clothes. The only one I have doesn’t quite suit my style. I would love a ticking striped one.

To me when I wear an apron it feels some how comforting. I want to bake, garden, hold Grand baby’s and think of my grandmother in her kitchen wearing her apron baking bread. Bringing the past forward and passing it on to the future with the very simple things, like an apron. Just what your Mom is doing for you.
I love to cook for my family. Wearing an apron just brings memories of a time gone by when my grandmother used to cook for us.. I love the ticking stripe. I’m currently making red and blue ticking stripe pennants for our porch.
Absolutely adore using an apron. Feels so homey and protected. I always loved bibs on my kids, aprons on my auntie, and a bonnet on my cousins. Since I can remember. Great story about your mom.
I do have instagram and will follow the steps there. Oh how I love your home and this apron… Thanks for this amazing giveaway.
My grandmother always wore an apron. They must have a pocket as she always carried a handkerchief in her pocket. She was a classy lady living to be 89. I learned
so many things from her. She was a major part of my life growing up.
I would like to ask where you purchased the lights in your kitchen. I am looking for new ones and I love yours. Thanks
I would like to win the apron because it is classic, stylish, practical, and made by your wonderful mother.
I collect aprons! I love this waist style apron but I don’t have one this style. I would love to add it to my collection!
I have an Instagram account and tagged my sister. But I wanted to comment to say I’ve been following your blog for quite some time, and one of my favorite things is how you have frequently touched on how important the apron is for you and your mom. I would love to win as a fellow “apron wearer” and adorer. I even wrote my own little series of stories for my daughter about her and her aprons and all the things she could accomplish in them! Teaching her young. Thanks for the opportunity!
I love your ticking fabric apron, I was wondering if I could make one…and now there is a giveaway! I love the classic fabric. So clean and perfect for a timeless look.
Holly
Thank you for this opportunity. I would LOVE to add this blue ticking apron to my apron collection. For me, aprons evoke fond memories of my mother and aunts together in their kitchens, creating scrumptious meals, and enjoying each others’ company.
I love ticking aprons too! I love cooking and wear an apron of some kind every day. I think aprons can be a great way to remember the past and someone special. You have aprons your mom made for you. I have an apron that belonged to my father, who is deceased. He often wore it when working on a project. I wear it now when I am painting furniture. Very special.
